- You can save a draft of your work if you would like to finish filling out the form at a later date.
- If anything changes with the information you submitted, please request to edit the submission / If you need to make changes to your form, please withdraw your submission and resubmit.
- Submittable works best on Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Internet Explorer is not supported. Please make sure you are using a supported browser.
- We will follow-up with you about your submission by email. Please be sure to safelist notification emails from Submittable and check the email you used to sign up for your Submittable Account regularly.

Application Steps
- Fill in the Eligibility Quiz below.
- If eligible, you’ll be directed to submit a concept note (no fixed deadline).
- If the concept note is approved, you will be invited to submit the full application form by the mentioned deadline.
Limited Number of Applications
- We will accept only first 25 full applications for the quarter.
- Concept notes can be submitted on a rolling basis, but once all slots for full applications are filled, we will stop accepting new ones.
- Early submissions have a higher chance of advancing, as strong concept notes submitted late may no longer be considered once the 25 full application slots are filled.
Application Instructions
Please complete the application form in English. Applications submitted in other languages will not be accepted.
In order to complete and submit the application form, you will be required to upload the following documents:
- Applicant passport copy
- Applicant current CV
- Applicant Invitation / Acceptance letter
- Applicant Abstract / Professional portfolio / Certificates of accomplishments (all documents in this category should be combined into one PDF)
- Applicant visa copy (if required for travel and if already available; if not, you may submit the application without the visa copy)
Please ensure that:
- Documents in the same category are merged into one single PDF file
- File names include your first and last name and document type (e.g., Karen Testyan_CV.pdf)
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
You may save your application at any point and return to it at a later date to complete and submit it. After submitting the application, you should receive a confirmation email.
Each applicant must submit their own application using their personal Submittable account. Applications submitted on behalf of multiple individuals from a single account will not be accepted and may be deemed ineligible for review.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?
The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation makes grants in the U.S. only to:
- Registered non-profit organizations that are charitable in nature i.e. designated IRS 501(c)(3) status in the U.S. including schools and churches. Preference is given to organizations that will use or apply substantially all of its grant funding in the state of New Jersey, specifically focused on Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
- Organizations that have established at least one year of program outcomes.
- Project activities that fall under one of the Foundation’s primary areas of focus.
- Calendar year, as well as multi-year grant requests, are eligible for consideration.
- Prior grant recipients of Foundation funding are eligible to reapply only after adhering to a 12-month waiting period following grant closure prior to submission of any new request.
- If all of the above criteria are met, grant requests greater than $10,000 cannot be requested for existing operational expenses.
What we do not fund:
- Operational overhead expenses
- Non-registered entities/organizations
- Political action groups
- Proposals submitted without a sustainability plan
- Grant requests used to produce something for commercial sale
